I received an email notification while traveling in Spain on tour with my school choir over Spring Break. To my surprise, an elected official wanted to congratulate me on being named a Prudential Emerging Visionary for my project, The Crescendo Lab Powered By PEFI. I was instructed to be available on Thursday, March 14, in the afternoon.
My phone rang at 12:18 PM, and the call immediately dropped, but caller ID showed “Phil Murphy.” I waited and waited, and at 1:20 PM, my phone rang again, and the caller ID read Phil Murphy. It happened; I got a call from the Governor. It felt good to have the chief executive of the state of New Jersey take time away from his busy schedule to speak to me about the Persistent Endeavors Foundation and The Crescendo Lab, my project. I am grateful for the call and inspired to continue finding ways to make a difference in my community. I could hardly contain my excitement, and I hope to have an opportunity to meet him in person in the near future.
